Travel with NICE

Why travel with NICE? Because you want to practice your world language skills in a real-world setting. Because you have always dreamed of going to another country. Because you want to get to know students your own age from another country. Because you want to experience a country like the locals. Because global-competence is a sought-after job skill. Because gaining first-hand experience in another country helps you understand your own country better. Because the only way to combat fear of people from other cultures is to get to know people from other cultures.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the requirements to travel with NICE?

You must be a current student at Newtown High School in good academic and behavioral standing. You need to be willing to go outside of your comfort zone and immerse yourself in the culture of another country. You must be willing to be a good representative of Newtown High School; Newtown, CT; and the United States.

 

You do not need to be currently enrolled in a language class or have any skills in the language of the country to which you wish to travel. There is an application and interview process to pass before students are accepted to travel with NICE.

Do I need to speak the language of the country I wish to travel to?

No. You do not need to be enrolled in a language class, either. ​

How much does it cost? Is there financial aid available?​

The cost varies based on the location and current flight prices. Payments are due monthly with the balance due before departure. There is financial aid available. Click here for the financial aid application.

What does the price of the Study Tour include?

This includes ground transportation to and from JFK airport; the airline ticket; breakfast, lunch and dinner while traveling; admission tickets to sites and museums in the country; and in-country tour guides. You will need to bring spending money for souvenirs and food purchased outside of mealtimes.
